TEXAS - On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, election results for the midterm election were called. For ten years, Deeds Not Words has built a generation of leaders, advocates, and organizers working towards reproductive justice through strengthening our democracy. We knew this day was coming but couldn’t have anticipated the strong surge.
After overwhelming voter turnout in multiple counties during early voting by Texans, the state is welcoming new leadership that will potentially make positive policy change. Deeds Not Words trained over 100 youth as election protection volunteers, distributed 1,500 election-focused Galvanizer Zines, knocked over 1,000 doors, sent over 30K voting text messages, and worked with more than 20 artists on voting content.
“For years, young people in Texas have been laying a foundation to influence change, and on Tuesday they did just that! This election taught us that with the appropriate investment, nothing is unattainable, said Alyssa Canty, Executive Director. “Deeds Not Words will continue to invest in young people through leadership development and advocacy to ensure that lawmakers are aware of their needs and lived experiences when it comes to policy making. We now have a government that is truly for, of, and by the people.”
